2. The Westin Dhaka
Discover Dhaka, Bangladesh from The Westin Dhaka. Located in the heart of Gulshan, Dhaka’s growing business and diplomatic district, this luxury hotel places you close to corporate offices, embassies, high-end shopping, dining, entertainment and historic landmarks.
This hotel is located about 20 minutes from the airport. If there’s no traffic, it’s about 20 minutes north of where all the touristy sites are. Expect to pay around $30 in a taxi to get to the airport or the tourist sights.
Rooms are spacious with a large non-traditional room design, huge bathroom with rainfall shower and all rooms include the supremely comfortable Westin Heavenly® Bed. There are five restaurants and bars offering Italian to Asian food and an outdoor heated pool, fitness center and spa.
This Westin has an executive club lounge which is open daily for breakfast and evening drinks and snacks. The service in the lounge is particularly good. Continental breakfast is served from 6:30am-10:30am. Evening snacks are served from 5:30pm-7:30pm, and offer an excellent and extensive lounge meal, more than enough to fill you up. Le Méridien Dhaka is perfectly suited for business and leisure travelers alike and is actually cheaper in Marriott Bonvoy Rewards than the Westin above. This hotel is a Category 4 Marriott Bonvoy hotel so when redeeming points, you make a significant saving staying here over the Westin.

4. Intercontinental Dhaka Balaka Executive Lounge at DAC Airport
Security at Dhaka Airport is very high with guards with machine guns everywhere. Beyond the security checkpoints, after immigration, there are signs to the airport executive lounges.
The airport itself is dated and, well, fairly horrible. Think Orwellian nightmare with futuristic mushroom-shaped columns dotted about and you will be close to imagining what this dirty, loud, and chaotic airport is like. The lounges offer some escape from the madness but they are pretty awful too.
The Balaka Executive Lounge is operated by personnel from the InterContinental Dhaka – the first 5-star hotel in Bangladesh which we have reviewed above. This is the only lounge in the airport featuring a full kitchen and a bar offering alcoholic beverages (at an additional cost) with 24-hour service staff. It is the best airport lounge at Dhaka International Airport.
Located in the International Terminal inside security and after Passport Control, turn right and proceed up the stairs at the end of the hall to the 2nd Floor, turn left and follow the signs to the entrance.
If you are flying on business class, you may get free access to the Balaka Executive Lounge, but it is also a Priority Pass lounge for economy travellers or you can pay on the door.
The lounge is accessible from Terminals 1 and 2 and is made up from one main room with lots of rather depressing waiting-room style seating. The buffet consists of a variety of hot and cold options in large aluminium containers. Quite stylish and with plenty of choices, much like you would expect of a hotel breakfast or club lounge lunch. There was also a selection of soft drinks, bottled water, coffee and juices.
There are currently three more lounges at the airport, City Bank American Express Lounge in the Domestic Terminal. American Express Corporate Cardmembers have complimentary lounge access regardless of airline and class of travel. The next is the MTB Air Lounge in Terminal 1 and there is the Skylounge also in Terminal 1.
Both the Intercontinental Dhaka Balaka Executive Lounge at DAC Airport and the Skylounge can be accessed by any passengers, no matter your travel class. Travellers from first class to economy class can enter these 24/7 lounges. To gain entry, use a lounge membership program or pay at the door.
When comparing the Intercontinental Dhaka Balaka Executive Lounge Vs the Skylounge at DAC Airport, the Intercontinental Dhaka Balaka Executive Lounge is the best.
