What should you have given your family this Christmas? Beyond gifts, my husband and I gave our little family a trip to one of the best hotels in Monaco. You can see the view from our room on Instagram. Strangely, we find it the most glamorous, Christmassy place in the world. Forget the ski resorts with snow but mediocre decorations, forget the beach (that’s just wrong at Christmas right?) We like Monaco.
I feel quite strongly that once you have done the family thing, most parents and adults need a trip away. We book our stays via our luxury travel concierge to get free upgrades, free breakfasts and other free perks at hotels including the Four Seasons, Park Hyatt, Ritz Carlton, Marriott, InterContinental and Hotel Hermitage in Monte Carlo at no extra cost.
Just take a look at the decorations over the years at this hotel. But enough of me. As an American flyer, perhaps you should have spent Christmas at Aspen or the Four Seasons Whistler. Both just a short hop away and featuring fairly impressive decorations and real snow, or perhaps you should start planning for 2020? Our most popular American holiday destination is Hawaii and our clients tend to book their stays at the best Four Seasons in Hawaii.
If this is all too much for your battered wallet post-Christmas, travel blog View From The Wing says that the best thing that makes American Airlines travel easier is an Admirals Club membership. He discusses the best way to get hold of one (via credit cards) here.
